Two labourers killed, 4 injured in wall collapse in Kannauj

KANPUR: Two labourers were killed and at least four injured after a wall of under-construction cold storage collapsed on them in Jalalabad area of Kannauj on Sunday.


According to police, the incident occurred in Anaugi in Jalalabad area on Sunday afternoon.

"As per information, the wall collapsed on the labourers, who were hired by a cold storage owner Bauwan Tiwari for raising a wall", police said.

The deceased have been identified as Nizam and Tahir, both natives of Purnia district of Bihar. The four injured labourers--Pappu, Ikram, Gita and Ameer--all natives of Bihar, have been admitted to Government Medical college in Tirwa, where the condition of few of them was stated to be critical by the doctors," said SP Kannauj, Amrendra Singh.

"The wall probably collapsed due to heavy rainfall. A probe has been ordered in this regard, and those found guilty will be punished. The labourers were mostly from Bihar. SDM Shailesh has been asked to conduct a probe," said ADM Kannauj Umesh Chandra Upadhyaya.
