Two lakh more voters to be added to list before polls

JAIPUR: More than two lakh new voters would be added to voters' list ahead of the Lok Sabha elections in the state, with 2.10 lakh new applicants registering themselves during the two-day special campaign in Rajasthan.





Interestingly, the election department's updated list up to March 8 shows that Jaisalmer, Sawai Madhopur and Sirohi districts didn't receive a single form (Form 6) for addition to the voters' list.
The list could be further updated later. The two-day special campaign was organised by the department on March 2 and 3 at the polling stations in the district.

It is believed that the dates for the upcoming general elections would be announced on March 10 or early next next week. According to an election department record, 2,10,131 Form 6, meant for new registration or addition to the voters' list, were received from across the state.

During the two-day campaign, 49,628 applications were received for deletion of names (Form 7) and 56,105 forms were submitted for correction on the electoral roll.

According to the records, Jaipur received highest number of Forms 6 (for addition to voters' list) with 37,622, followed by Jodhpur with 19,996 forms and Udaipur with 10,509 forms.

Among others, Bikaner received just 40 forms, Pratapgarh received 718 new forms for addition to voters’ list, Ajmer received 8222 forms, Alwar received 2076 forms, Banswara 5622, Baran 2762, Barmer 6627, Bharatpur 6334, Bhilwara 6976, Bundi 3065, Chittorgarh 5092, Churu 5661, Kota 9657, Pali 9878 and Tonk 4,573.

Among other districts, 5174 forms were received in Dausa for addition, 3051 in Dholpur, 6101 in Dungarpur, 7199 in Ganganagar, 2272 in Hanumangarh, 6768 in Jalore, 3198 in Jhalawar, 8972 in Jhunjhunu, 4371 in Karauli, 6961 in Nagaur, 3123 in Rajsamand and 7511 in Sikar.

The eligible voters in the state can enrol themselves till 10 days before the date of filing of nomination papers.
