Two minor sisters succumb to snakebite in Odisha

Baripada: A pall of gloom descended on two families in Khandia Gram Panchayat in Mayurbhanj district after two minor lives tragically ended after being bitten by a snake on Thursday night.

The deceased minors were two cousins – an 11-year old Nanit and another 12-year old Rosy – daughters of two bothers-in-law of a family.

As per information, the two minor sisters had visited their maternal family with their fathers in Badadanamara village under Kuliana police limits in Mayurbhanj district.  While they were deep in sleep during the late hours of Thursday, a snake of common krait species reportedly slithered toward them and bit the two innocent girls.

The family immediately rushed the two victims to the Rangamatia PHC from where they were shifted to the Pandit Raghunath Murmu (PRM) Medical College & Hospital in Baripada for treatment.

However, both the minors succumbed to the poison while undergoing treatment.

The loss of two young lives has devastated both families.
