Two more held with 140gm smack in Ambala

AMBALA: The crime investigation agency (CIA)-1 of the district police have arrested two accused identified as Gaurav Sharma alias Mani and Deepak Sharma alias Bablu both residents Premnagar , Ambala city after recovering 140 gram smack ( heroin ) from their possession on Thursday night at around 11pm from near village Shahpur on river Tangri bridge on Grand Trunk (GT) Road.

On Friday, on the complaint of a police official, a case against both the accused Gaurav and Deepak under Section 21 (punishment for contravention in relation to manufactured drugs and preparations) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Parao police station.

As per the First Information Report, “The police team was present near village Shahpur on patrol when they received a tip-off about the accused coming from Delhi side in i-20 car along with the contraband. Acting as per the tip-off, the team laid a checking post on river Tangri bridge and spotted the suspected vehicle coming from Delhi side. When the police signaled them to stop, they parked their car at a distance and started running out of the vehicle. The police nabbed the accused and after following all the relevant procedures conducted the checking. While frisking, the police did not recover anything from the pockets of the accused Deepak who was driving the car while they recovered 120 gram smack (heroin) from the pockets of the accused Gaurav Sharma.”

As per the information, the police have also seized i-20 car used in smuggling the contraband.

Investigation officer, said, “On Friday, both the arrested accused were presented before the court which has sent them on three-day police remand with the CIA-1 team. They had procured the contraband from Delhi and further information would be extracted during the interrogation.”

Earlier on Monday, the district police had arrested two accused residents of Ambala Cantonment in another case after recovering 340-gram heroin from their possession near village Shahpur on GT Road.
