Two More Shramik Special Trains Left For Siwan And Buxar

In its endeavour to ensure the safe and convenient travel of the migrants to their native states from Jalandhar, the state government has so far spent Rs 4.37 crore on 'Shramik Special Trains' which facilitated more than free travel of 78200 migrants to their native states.The 64th such train chugged off from city to Siwan (Bihar at 12.30 pm today whereas 65th chugged off from station to Buxar at 5 pm.

Both the trains carried 3200 migrants from the district who were stranded here during the lock down period. The state government on Friday spent Rs 8.88 lakh for the free travel of migrants to Siwan whereas Rs 8.89 lakh was spent on free travel of the labourers to Buxar amounting to a total of Rs 17.84 lakh. For this humanitarian gesture, the state government has spent a total amount of Rs 4.37 crore to ferry more than 78,200 migrants free of cost from the district to their respective states.These migrants were ferried in the state owned buses to the city Railway station where proper health screening of the migrants was done by the Medical and para medical staff.

Before boarding to the trains the migrants were provided free food, water, sleepers and other things of their need which were required during the travel.The district administration led by Deputy Commissioner Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma, Commissioner of Police Mr. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar and Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. Navjot Singh Mahal has already made elaborate arrangements for free travel of the migrants. The trains were being moved from the city station under the supervision of Additional Commissioner Municipal Corporation Ms.
