UP govt suspends eight school teachers for social media posts over Pulwama attack, Balakot strike

The Yogi Adityanath-led government in Uttar Pradesh (UP) has suspended eight school teachers for criticizing the central government over various issues, a media report said today.

The Indian Express reported on Tuesday that UP government has suspended eight teachers over questioning the Pulwama attack, praising Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, criticising the effectiveness of the Balakot strike and making political statements against the central government.


The report said that these eight teachers were suspended for posting such updates on their Facebook page or WhatsApp groups.

The eight school teachers have been identified as Surendra Kumar, primary school Headmaster, Barabanki; Amrendra Kumar, primary school assistant teacher, Sultanpur; Ravindra Kanojia, primary school assistant teacher, Rae Bareli; Ravi Shankar Yadav, primary school Headmaster, Mirzapur; Nandji Yadav, primary school assistant teacher, Azamgarh; Satya Prakash Verma, primary school assistant teacher, Shravasti; Nirankar Shukla, primary School Headmaster, Rae Bareli; and Rajesh Shukla, primary school assistant teacher, Rae Bareli.

The Express report said that said teachers were suspended over the allegations like: “Objectionable comments against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath repeatedly; For writing Facebook posts on Prime Minister Narendra Modi; and he wrote remarks critical of the Prime Minister referring to the exit of the RBI governor and the pressures on LIC,” were some of the reasons given by the UP government for their suspension.
