UP: Man beaten to death in clash over Holi cap in Mainpuri

AGRA: A 65-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death over a trivial issue in Mainpuri’s Balpura village on Friday following a clash between two groups after someone removed the Holi cap that his son was wearing.


Police have registered a case of murder against six people. However, none of them has been arrested so far.



According to police, the incident occurred around 4 pm when two youths, Ashish Singh and Dharmendra Singh allegedly fought with each other after the former removed the cap that the latter was wearing. Subsequently, family members of the two also joined in and a relative of Ashish thrashed Dharmendra’s father, Lakhan Singh , badly. Singh, who reportedly sustained head injuries, later died in the hospital.

SP Mainpuri, Ajay Shankar Rai said that six people including Ashish, his father Karan Singh have been booked under section 302 (murder) of IPC on the basis of a complaint filed by the deceased’s son Dharmendra. He said all of them were drunk at the time of clash.
