Urfi Javed Did It First! MET Gala's Exhibit Outfit Bears Uncanny Resemblance To Her 'Science Project' Dress

Did social media's darling, Urfi Javed, whose quirky style makes everyone's jaws drop, just go global? A month ago, Urfi shocked the internet with a unique universe dress. Needless to say, trolls did not spare her, and instantly branded it as a mock school 'science project'. Now, it is time for them to eat their own words. Days before the MET Gala (to be held on the first Monday of May 2024, ie, May 6), a video going viral on Instagram shows off their exhibit outfits, with a model donning a very similar dress to what Urfi wore.

The only difference is that the model had a garden inside the fit, instead of the universe.

MET Gala Theme VS Urfi Javed?
Though Urfi Javed got trolled for the outfit she wore while announcing one of her projects on screen, it seems she was a visionary, as seen on the Vogue Paris runway. In March, Urfi Javed took to Instagram to flaunt the new fit that she designed along with Shweta Gurmeet Kaur, taking inspiration from Undercover Lab, a design studio. She wore a black dress with a dome hanging from the waist, that housed planets in them. She wrote, "Centre of the universe (sic)."

Now, Vogue Runway's official Instagram account posted a video of a model donning one of Jun Takahashi’s spring 2024 Undercover terrarium dresses. The dress, however, had living plants and butterflies, unlike Urfi's outfit which had the whole universe. The caption read, "That 'Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion'—the upcoming exhibition at The @metmuseum’s @metcostumeinstitute —veers closer to a forensic than a fantastical reading of clothing is confirmed by a first look at its catalogue. On its box cover, after all, is one of Jun Takahashi’s spring 2024 Undercover terrarium dresses, which had living plants and flitting butterflies on the Paris runway—fret not, it won't at the museum. Before the Met Gala on the first Monday in May, Vogue got a first look at the tome."

It is interesting to note that these outfits too were designed in collaboration with Undercover Lab, the design studio Urfi Javed drew inspiration from. Coincidence? We don't think so. We'd still say Urfi Javed did it first!

The MET Gala is scheduled to take place on the first Monday of May - May 6 - as is customary.
