Uttar Pradesh: 44 PAC constables test coronavirus positive in Pratapgarh district

Pratapgarh (Uttar Pradesh):

Forty-four constables who attended a passing- out parade on July 30 at the Reserve Police Lines in Pratapgarh district have now tested positive for coronavirus, an official said on Sunday.

The parade was held after the newly recruited constables completed their training at the Recruitment Training Centre at the Reserve Police Lines.

The samples of 199 constables who participated in the parade were later got tested at a special COVID-19 camp organised at the Reserve Police Lines on Thursday.

"The newly recruited PAC constables were asked to stay back after the passing-out parade for tests ahead of their postings. Of the 199 samples, 44 were found positive through an antigen rapid test,"

Pratapgarh SP Abhishek Singh said.

Apart from the constables, Singh's driver and gunner have also been diagnosed as coronavirus positive.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has conducted a three-district tour of western Uttar Pradesh to review the COVID-19 situation in view of the increasing number of

coronavirus

cases.

He reviewed the

coronavirus

pandemic situation in Bareilly, Meerut and Saharanpur divisions, and visited Bareilly, Saharanpur and Noida on Friday and Saturday.

Adityanath took a review meeting on the entire situation in the state on Friday before leaving for his tour.

According to the official spokesman, the chief minister held a meeting with officials in Bareilly on Friday evening, and inaugurated a COVID-19 care hospital in Noida on Saturday. He then proceeded to Saharanpur for a meeting.

CM Yogi Adityanath returned to the state capital on Saturday evening.
