Uttar Pradesh: Woman dies of mysterious fever on day of her wedding

PILIBHIT: A 24-year-old woman, Komal, of Gulabtanda village under Kalinagar tehsil of Pilibhit district died of some mysterious fever on Tuesday — the day she was scheduled to marry Avnesh Singh of Kichha town in Uttarakhand’s Udham Singh Nagar district.

According to Komal’s father Laxman Prasad, she was suffering from fever for over a week and they shifted her to a private hospital in Bareilly on Monday, where she was diagnosed with dengue.

Prasad said Komal was under the supervision of local doctors in Puranpur, but when her condition did not improve, she was shifted to a private hospital in Pilibhit city. Thereafter, Komal was shifted to Bareilly, where she died on Tuesday night, he said.

The health department authorities in Pilibhit, however, claimed that Komal’s medical report did not confirm dengue.

Prasad said the groom’s family, too, participated in Komal’s last rites.

“I have accepted Avnesh as my son-in-law. I will maintain this relation forever even though Avnesh will now be married to another girl,” he added.
