Utter chaos in nomination day as traffic police fail to issue advisory

Hyderabad: On the last day of filing of nominations for Lok Sabha election, traffic was thrown out of gear in most parts of central zone as Hyderabad traffic police failed to issue advisory cautioning public to take alternate routes.

Since morning three huge rallies taken out by the two candidates from Hyderabad Parliamentary constituency Feroz Khan of the Congress, P Srikanth of Telangana Rashtra Samithi and one candidate from Secundrabad, Talasani Sai Kumar Yadav, dominated the roads in the heart of the city.

During these rallies, traffic came to a standstill as candidates reached Hyderabad District Collectorate in the form of processions. Commuters had a harrowing time while passing Moazam Jahi Market, GPO Circle, Gunfoundry, Troop Bazaar X roads and adjoining areas of Hyderabad Collectrate.

“There is a part of negligence of the Hyderabad Traffic police as they have failed to issue Advisory to public cautioning to take diversions during filing of nominations “said Syed Azizuddin a commuter

School students and their parents, too, faced inconvenience while going back to their homes as many schools are located in Abids. The traffic flow was completely paralyzed in central zone, as traffic police struggled to clear the jam, since they were found busy making passage to the nomination processions. The traffic police was unable to handle the procession rush and public had to suffer a lot.

“The whole road Moazam Jahi Market to Gunfoundry was clogged due to rallies and processions, it took me more than an hour to pick my child studying in Chirag Ali Lane Abids” said Seema, a mother who had come to pick her daughter.

There were many scenes witnessed where the public had confrontations with the traffic police over the sudden erecting of barricades closing the roads.

“Although we have not issued advisory, but traffic policemen were deployed in the area, only road diversions were there and roads remained open.” ACP Traffic 2 Central Zone N Vidya Sagar.
