Vellore Lok Sabha election: Candidates' assets up since April

CHENNAI: The AIADMK and DMK candidates in the fray for the Vellore Lok Sabha election have seen their moveable assets increase by more than Rs 1 crore between April and July.


AIADMK alliance candidate AC Shanmugam showed an increase in cash on hand, besides bank balance of his wife and himself, of Rs 1.74 crore.

Shanmugam and his wife had declared Rs 16.93 crore in cash in April; it is Rs 18.13 crore now. Liabilities too rose by Rs 3.30 crore.

DMK’s Kathir Anand has shown an increase in the balance in his election account. He also sold a few properties, which reduced the value of his immovable assets by Rs 1 crore. Anand showed an increase in moveable assets. Anand, who opened an election account in Indian Bank, Vellore, has shown a balance Rs 70.17 lakh. The Canara Bank account opened in April before the poll was cancelled had a balance of Rs 30.10 lakh. The cash in hand (including that of his spouse) has also increased from Rs 7.43 lakh in April to Rs 28.13 lakh now.
