Vellore Lok Sabha election: Special expenditure observer appointed

CHENNAI: Former principal chief commissioner of income tax ( Tamil Nadu and Puducherry region) B Murali Kumar has been appointed as special expenditure observer for the Vellore Lok Sabha election.

Incidentally, it was based on a report by Murali Kumar as director general of the income tax investigation wing that the Election Commission rescinded the election in April.



“The Election Commission of India has appointed Murali Kumar as special expenditure observer for Vellore constituency that goes to polls now on August 5. It may be recalled that on April 14, the EC made a recommendation to the President of India, under Article 324 of the Constitution read with Section 21 of the General Clauses Act, 1897, to rescind the election,” said an EC press release.
