Veteran freedom fighter and Kannada writer Ko Channabasappa passed away

Bengaluru, Feb 23 (UNI) Veteran freedom fighter and noted Kannada writer Ko Channabasappa passed away in M S Ramaiah hospital due to age related illness in the city on Saturday.

He was 96. He was survived by three daughters and two sons.

He was former Judge and had written more than 80 books. He was winner of Nadoja and Kannada Rajyotsava Awards.

Born in Kudligi in Ballari District he had participated in Quit India movement during his school days and had been jailed several time. He was in forefront during agitation for States unification.

Former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, in his tweeter, has condoled death of Ko Channabasappa.

He recalled the role played by him during unification of the State and said that he was like a teacher for me and was giving direction every time I approach.

Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, Deputy Chief Minister Dr G Parameshwara and many writers and literary personalities have condoled death of Ko Channabasappa.

His son Dr Gurudev, who is a Neprologist in M S Ramaiah Hospital said that the last rites will be held tomorrow.
