[Video] Gwalior: Doctor assaults woman receptionist for charging his relative for treatment

Gwalior: There have been many instances where doctors were beaten up by patients kin over medical alleged medical negligence. But a shocking video has emerged from Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior district in which a doctor could be seen assaulting a woman staff of a hospital. The entire incident was caught on close Circuit Television Camera (CCTV) of the hospital.

Both the doctor and the woman receptionist were employees of the same hospital.

The accused doctor Gaurav Sharma was angry over the woman staff after she handed over a bill to doctor's relative for treatment at the hospital. The doctor shouted at the woman for charging his kin's for treatment.

Meanwhile, the two parties have filed a First Information Report (FIR) against each other. In the video, the woman and the accused could be seen arguing over something and then suddenly pushing and shoving started between the two. Later, the staff at the hospital intervened and separated the two fighting individuals.

In a separate incident, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) slapped a doctor over a parking issue in the state. Meanwhile, former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has written to CM Kamal Nath over the alleged poor law and order situation in the state.

Earlier, a shocking incident of the assault was caught on camera where a doctor at Sawai Man Singh Hospital in Jaipur, Rajasthan, thrashed a patient on June 3. Later, Raghu Sharma, Medical and Health Minister of Rajasthan sought a report on the incident.

In June, doctors in West Bengal went on a strike after one of their colleagues was thrashed by the kin of the patient. The apex medical body, Indian Medical Association (IMA) had announced a nation-wide strike of doctors to support their colleagues in Kolkata. Along with West Bengal, medical services were crippled in many other states after medicos staged strikes to support their colleagues.

Junior doctors ended their week-long strike on June 17 after meeting with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Banerjee accepted the proposal of the striking doctors' to set up Grievance Redressal Cell in state-run hospitals across the state. The Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo also directed Kolkata Police Commissioner Anuj Sharma to deploy a nodal police officer in every hospital. The decisions were taken during the meeting with representatives of doctors at Nabanna, which houses the State Secretariat in West Bengal.
