[VIDEO] Rajasthan: Linemen disconnect power, use electric wires to cross river in Bhilwara

Jaipur: Monsoon revelry has reached another level in Bhilwara district of Rajasthan, where two electricians trying to cross the overflowing Mansi river over an electric wire. The video of the incident has been uploaded online and it is making rounds on social media. 

In the video, the electrician can be seen crossing the river on the electric wire and a huge crowd shooting the incident on their mobile phones.

The pole to which these electric wires were connected was warped and two more people were seen putting their lives in danger and climbing it. Sources claimed that the linemen had cut the power supply before this gig.

The accused were identified as Mishri Lal Lohar and Duda Ram, both were linemen of a government-owned electricity distribution companies (DISCOM). They first cut the power of line between Aagucha and Parasram village and then they tried to cross the river on these wires. However, the local police have arrested both the accused linemen.

 
Heavy rains lashed parts of Rajasthan on the weekend leading to flood-like situation in several areas. Dams and river are overflowing while all the district authorities are on a red alert. As many as 11 districts have received more than normal rainfall this season so far. Reportedly, Rajasthan receives 530mm rain on average but this time, the state received 534mm since the monsoon began.
The highest rainfall in Rajasthan was recorded- 14 and 8 inches in the Nagaur and Parbatsar districts, respectively on Saturday. Heavy rains hit the Ajmer, Jodhpur and Bikaner districts. Reportedly, out of 810 dams in the state, over 210 are currently overflowing. Residents in Kota were moved to safer places, PTI reported. 
 
Meanwhile, in Maharashtra, the death toll in floods in the Pune division has climbed to 56. Out of the five districts that fall under the administrative division, Sangli and Kolhapur were badly affected by floods in the second week of August. Other districts in the division are Solapur, Pune and Satara. As per the figures available so far, 1519 houses were damaged completely in floods while 19,780 partially in Pune.
