Vidisha's 'blood brother' speaks 80 hours non-stop

BHOPAL: A 44-year-old Vikas Pachori —who hails from Vidisha district — has become the only man in the entire country to speak non-stop for 80 long hours at a stretch. This good Samaritan has also created a blood donor directory of more than one lakh people and offers round-the-clock hearse service .

A Class 9 dropout, who once owned a paan shop, he has earned a place in the India Book of Records.

Pachori continuously spoke for 80 hours and seven seconds starting from September 30, ending on October 3, in front of a jury.

Pachori’s purpose to make the record was to motivate people for body donation. Before his feat, the last record of non-stop speech marathon was made by a man from neighbouring Nepal.

Pachori says he sought an inspiration to speak for so long from one of the episodes of ' Kaun Banega Crorepati ' last month, where Amitabh Bachchan informed about a news anchor who holds a record for 18 hours of non-stop news reading.

Popularly known as Vidisha’s ‘blood brother’, Pachori organised a ‘daan’ (charity) mela in Jalaori Garden of Vidisha where he urged people to donate their bodies. While he speaks for the record, one truck load of used clothes, loads of medical equipment, and books were donated. As many as 60 people pledged to donate their bodies and some 100 people pledged to donate their eyes, while he continued to speak, setting a record.

Chief minister Kamal Nath and former chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan tweeted about Pachori’s feat. Vidisha MLA Shashank Bhargav, former MLAs, MPs, collector and SP were present when Pachori reached the last leg of breaking the record. He explained that as per rules, a person attempting the record of non-stop speech marathon is allowed to take a break of five minutes per hour.

Pachori took just three breaks. The first was after 12 hours, while the second and third breaks were taken in a gap of 24 hours each. “I fell unconscious after completing 80 hours, but a team of doctors attended me on stage and I gained consciousness.”

Pachori was also recommended for the prestigious Padma Shri award in 2017.
