Vijayawada: Conman finally held post 25 fake job cases

VIJAYAWADA: A 49-year-old man was arrested on Monday for allegedly cheating several persons under the pretext of getting them jobs.


The accused Saladi Ramgopal is a resident of Tulasi Nagar in Penamaluru mandal . Addressing a press conference, deputy commissioner of police Venkata Appala Naidu explained that they first received a complaint against Ramgopal back in November 2018 from a businessman Basula Satyasurya Kiran.



Ramgopal had allegedly posed as a senior official from the ministry of family and health welfare and made regular visits to the cyber café owned by Kiran.

After developing a liason with him, Ramgopal had offered Kiran a government job and a labour supply contract that could fetch him ‘crores in income’. In return, Ramgopal took Rs 52.5 lakh from Kiran. The accused allegedly went on to cheat Kiran’s friend Chinna Venkateswara Rao as well, to the tune of Rs 29 lakh by offering him a state-wide medical supply tender. Venkateswara Rao introduced another friend Kandepu Lakshmi Perumal to Ramgopal and the latter duped him as well. Perumal was offered a labour supply contract was conned of Rs 17.02 lakh.

It was when the accused made away with the money that the three victims approached Bhavanipuram police station to lodge a complaint. “There are 22 previous cases against Ramgopal for cheating people across the state under the guise of fake jobs. Upon information, we have arrested him from Kaleswar Rao Market area in the city and seized cash and gold from him,” Naidu said.
