Vimukt Ranjan takes charge as Kangra SP

DHARAMSHALA: The officer who served as in-charge of the close protection team (CPT) of prime minister Narendera Modi for years while working with SPG ( Special Protection Group ), Vimukt Ranjan , a 2009 batch IPS officer has been appointed as superintendent of police in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh .


Ranjan took charge on Thursday at police headquarters in Dharamshala.

In a short interaction with the media, Ranjan said that he has returned to the state from deputation at Center for almost seven years and now it is the time to pay back his home state by serving the public.

“I would serve the public in best possible way and will be available to them in times they need me,” he said adding that he is lucky to have worked with a great prime minster.

Talking about the core issues of the region, Ranjan said that his role at the Center was totally different from what he is going to perform here now.

“I would look into traffic problems as this is tourist destination and a major pilgrimage place. The issues related to drug and illegal mining will also be monitored,” he added.

The appointment of the Vimukt Ranjan at Kangra has added weight to the district. Kangra is already known as the political capital of Himachal Pradesh. It has 15 assembly constituencies, highest among 12 districts of the state.
