Visakhapatnam: Two dead, 3 injured in bike-auto collision

VISAKHAPATNAM: Two persons died on the spot and three others sustained injuries following collision between an auto-rickshaw, carrying five passengers, and a bike on the outskirts of Bennavaram village on Wednesday.


Police said the accident took place when the rider of the bike, identified as Giduthuru Durga Prasad (30), lost control while overtaking a vehicle and hit the auto-rickshaw, which was coming from the opposite direction.



Durga Prasad was on his way to Narsipatnam from Gunipudi village while the auto-rickshaw was heading towards Tuni, East Godavari, from Rolugunta.

The impact of the collision damaged the front part of the auto-rickshaw, killed Durga Prasad and D Varalakshmi (40), who sat next to the driver died of head wounds.

Three passengers in the auto , including the driver, were severely injured.

Locals, who rushed to help, informed the police, who sent the bodies and the injured to the nearest hospital. The condition of the injured is said to be stable.
