Vivek Rana murder case: Gangster held

Ambala: In connection with a kidnapping and murder case registered at Barara police station of Ambala district, the Naraingarh crime investigation agency (CIA) on Friday arrested a most-wanted gang member of Monu Rana group, said Ambala superintendent of police Abhishek Jorwal.

The accused gang member has been identified as Ajay of Pilkhani village in Ambala district.

There was a reward money of Rs 50,000 for him.

On Saturday, the accused Ajay was presented before the court which sent him on two-day police remand with Naraingarh CIA.

On May 17, 2018, Abhishek of Ratanpura village in Yamunanagar district lodged a complaint at Barara police station alleging that on May 16, 2018, the accused Shamsher Singh (Monu Rana), Amar Singh, Gautam of Thamber village and others kidnapped his known Vivek Rana of Shamli district in Uttar Pradesh near Triveni Chowk in Barara town of Ambala district. Vivek’s bullet-riddled body was found near Samgoli village under Dera Bassi of Mohali district.

An SIT was formed to investigate this case and 10 had already been arrested earlier.

In connection with Vivek Rana’s murder on August 21, 2019, the Ambala district court of additional district and Session Judge Praveen Gupta framed charges against Shamsher Singh, Anuj, Vikas, Mintu Rana, Sachin Rana, Amar Singh, Virender alias Nikku, Amar Singh alias Thakur, Gautam Rana, and Kuldeep. All the 10 accused are lodged in jails at Kurukshetra, Hisar and Yamunanagar. Ajay of Pilkhani and Neeraj Gandhi were at large, but the police have managed to arrest Ajay.

“The accused Ajay was actively involved in kidnapping and murdering Vivek. We have taken him on two-day police remand for interrogation,” said inspector Narender, SHO Naraingarh CIA.
