Voters' verification till November 18, says Election Commission

JAIPUR: The Election Commission (EC) has extended the deadline for voter verification by a month.

Chief electoral officer Anand Kumar informed that the work of verification of voters to make the voters’ lists has been extended to November 18.

He said that till October 18, only 72.04% registered voters have been verified in the state. Kumar said that the voters registered in all the polling stations of the assembly constituencies, who have not yet got their entries verified through the NVSP portal, common service centre, e-mitra kiosk or booth level officer, will have to do by any means mentioned.

Kumar said that 98.62% voters in Dholpur district, 95.99% in Bhilwara, 90.34% in Tonk and 89.03% in Sawai Madhopur have been verified during the voter verification programme in the state. In the remaining districts, verification of registered voters will be done before the scheduled date.

He said that according to the latest instructions of the Commission, during the voter verification programme, booth level officers will go door-to-door to verify the voter's entries.The official could verify using any of the 10 documents approved by the commission.

But he added that the Commission has given clear instructions that the BLO should not demand any specific documents out of 10 documents authorized by the Commission.

As per the amended schedule, the publication of the voter list will now be done on November 25, 2019 and the final publication of the voter lists will be done on January 20 next year.
