Wanted in many states, criminal held in Gurugram

GURUGRAM: In a major success, Gurugram police on March 15 arrested Jalaluddin alias Jallu, marked in its list as a “most-wanted” criminal, involved in over 28 cases of attempt to murder , robbery, dacoity and snatching.

He was produced in a city court on Wednesday, which sent him to two days of police remand.

According to police, Jalaluddin, a resident of Dalawas village near Taouru of Mewat, under Nuh district, was arrested by the crime unit team of Sohna police station, for robbing the property dealer of his Scorpio SUV at gunpoint on February 15, for which, police had announced a reward of Rs 50,000. Later, he was taken on remand by the Sector 31 crime unit, for a case of theft in Sector 53. He was also a proclaimed offender in a case under Pataudi police station, and is wanted on other cases in Delhi and Maharashtra. But it was his disclosures during interrogation that left the cops gobsmacked.

He confessed to his involvement in 28 cases of attempt to murder, robbery, dacoity, snatching and house-breaking, that go back to 2006. Over the years, he was arrested in 10 of these cases, for which he got bail.

Among the cases in which he was booked are one of robbery under Taouru police station, of animal cruelty under Palwal police station and a robbery attempt under Sadar police station in 2006. Other cases include involvement in theft in Kherki Daula in 2007, and another theft in Taouru in 2014. He was declared a proclaimed offender in a case under Sadar police station in 2011, after he ignored police/court visits under bail. Thereafter, he was booked for dacoity in Pataudi and for brawling in Bhondsi, along with three cases of robbery and dacoity under Taouru police station in 2015. In 2017, he was booked in a case of theft by Bilaspur police station.

There is one case of theft against him in Bhiwani, two in Delhi, one in Dadri, two in Bahadurgarh, two each in Rohtak and Jhajjar. Since last year, he was also wanted for a dacoity in Kherki Daula and murder attempt in Taouru, in which he fired on cops, said police.

“He has so far confessed to 28 crimes, including heinous ones like attempt to murder murder. We’re interrogating him and hope to solve many more cases,” said inspector Naveen Kumar, the crime unit head of Sector 18.

Meanwhile, Gurugram police began following up on its promise, made by former police commissioner K K Rao late last year, of attaching properties of proclaimed offenders.

So far, they attached the property of gangster Sube Singh alias Gujjar, a member of the Kaushal gang with Rs 5 lakh reward on his head.

In February, the court of sub-divisional magistrate, Pataudi, also gave orders for the auction of the property, but there were no takers at the auction.
