Wanted woman Maoist held in Muzaffarpur district

MUZAFFARPUR: A wanted woman member of CPI ( Maoist ), Rekha Bharti, was arrested from her Meenapur village under the same police station area in Muzaffarpur district on Friday night.

Rekha, also known as Janki Devi (42), was evading arrest for nearly two years after her name figured in more than eight incidents, including blowing of railway tracks at three different places in the district.

Police sources officials from different security agencies were interrogating her at an unknown place about her associates and organization.

Muzaffarpur SSP Manoj Kumar said, “We got information about Rekha’s return to her native place. So, we conducted a joint operation and nabbed her. Commandant of SSB 32 battalion, Deepak Kumar, and deputy commandant (operations) Dalvir Singh monitored the entire operation.”

He said Rekha was one of the top CPI (Maoist) leaders in the zone. “She had taken shelter in Punjab two years ago and returned to her native place five days back to strengthen the organization, which has lost its sting in the area following the arrest of many top Maoist leaders,” said Kumar, maintaining that Rekha was wanted by Kurhani, Sakra and Meenapur police of the district.

Even police from Sheohar and Sitamarhi districts were on her lookout for alleged involvement in Maoist incidents in the last couple of years in the districts.
