Wardha-Ballarshah's 3rd line partly opened

Nagpur: Ahead of model code of conduct for Assembly polls in the state, Wardha’s BJP MP Ramdas Tadas on Wednesday dedicated 13.14km third line between Sewagram-Sonegaon railway stations on Ballarshah section.

The commissioner railway safety (CRS) had given clearance to open the line in May itself but it was opened now.

The new line will give partial relief to passengers and help smooth movement of freight trains by way of capacity augmentation.

The 13.14km line is part of 132km third line project between Wardha-Ballarshah estimated to cost Rs1,272 crore. It was sanctioned in 2015-16 but work started in 2017.

In the next phase, the third line between Sonegaon-Hinganghat will be opened. Nagpur-Wardha third line project, which was announced before Sevagram-Ballarshah line, is yet to see light of the day.

Former MP Suresh Waghmare, who was also present, opened a wi-fi facility at Sewagram station. Senior divisional commercial manager (SrDCM) Krishnath Patil and deputy chief engineer (construction) HL Kawre were present.
