Wedding party turns tragic as woman killed by lightning in Bundi district

JAIPUR/KOTA/JAISALMER: A woman was killed and 10 others sustained burn injuries after struck by lightning in Bundi district on Thursday, police said. The incident occurred in the evening at 9 pm when the villagers and family members gathered at the wedding rituals of bride Kavita Meena at Ganeshpura village in Bundi.

The injured, mostly women and children, were rushed to the hospital. The deceased woman was identified as Lad Kanwar (38), who is aunt of the bride.


Many places, including Jaipur, witnseed heavy dust storm, hailstorm and rainfall late in the evening that affected normal life and vehicular traffic. The heavy dust storm started on late Wednesday evening and continued on Thursday at Bharatpur, Alwar, Jaisalmer , Barmer and other parts of the state.

At many places bad weather caused damaged to the toll plaza structures, which were blown away in some areas. Although the bad weather also affected power and water supply in Barmer and Jaisalmer districts, there was no report of loss of human life. In many areas, trees, electricity poles and other cables were uprooted.

Moderate showers, hail storm and duststorm were witnessed at Kota, Jhalawar , Baran, Dausa, Bharatpur, Alwar, Bikaner , Churu Jaisalmer and Barmer.

On Wednesday late evening, Jaisalmer witnessed hailstorm, as a layer of hail was found in the farms of various villages of the district. Many villagers also collected the hail in their utensils and were posting the pictures on the social media.
