West Ahmedabad reports surge in cases

Chandkheda reports 3, Naranpura 13, Nava Wadaj 1, Navrangpura 3, Paldi 6, Ranip 7, Sabarmati 22, Vasna 7 cases

For the second consecutive day, Ahmedabad city reported less than 250 new Covid-19 cases. On Friday, 236 cases were reported within the city limits while 17 cases were reported from Ahmedabad rural, taking the total number of cases in the district to 253.

Sixteen people died in the city while a 60-year-old man and a 52-year-old man died in Viramgam and Daskroi respectively. With the latest tally, the number of Covid-19 cases in Ahmedabad district climbed to 11,597, while the total deaths to 798.

Help desk for 42 pvt hospitals

Aiming to provide information of patients admitted in the 42 designated Covid-19 private hospitals in Ahmedabad, AMC chief Mukesh Kumar has ordered to set up a help desk. Deputy Municipal Commissioner of each ward have been asked to form a team of 2-3 official to work in two hours shift for the purpose.

AMC will be making up to Rs15 lakh advance payment to private Covid-19 hospitals depending upon the number of beds.

Hospitals with up to 20 beds will be paid Rs 5 lakh, Rs 10 lakh for hospitals with 21-40 beds and Rs 15 lakh to hospitals with 40 or more beds. The payment will be towards treatment of patients referred by AMC. The civic body will pay upfront 50% of the grant, Mukesh Kumar said.

Surge in cases in western parts

According to AMC officials, 236 cases were reported in Ahmedabad on Friday. Maximum 62 cases were reported from the south zone comprising areas like Chandkheda (3), Naranpura (13), Nava Wadaj (1), Navrangpura (3), Paldi (6), Ranip (7), Sabarmati (22) and Vasna (7). Jodhpur reported 4 cases, Sarkhej 2 and Vejalpur 10 cases.

Hotspots like Jamalpur reported 2, Asarva 5, Shahpur 6, Dariapur 3 and Khadia highest 11 cases in the central zone.
