What a wedding! Groom thrashed for riding horse in Bikaner, bride turns out to be a minor

Bikaner: Days after a groom was thrashed for riding a horse at his wedding, a new development was made in the same marriage. After the groom was beaten up by people of the upper caste, it so turned out that the bride was a minor. The wedding ceremony was conducted under police protection. 

The wedding took place in the Belasar village of Bikaner.

The minor's age was revealed after the birth records of her elder brothers were checked by the police and the district administration.

The age of the bride come to light after the locals of the village complained against the father of the minor. In their complaint, the locals alleged that the minor had fixed the marriage of his sons. Investigation revealed that the two brothers were being married off despite being minors. 

The sub-divisional magistrate of Bikaner, Kailash Chandra Sharma told the Hindustan Times that they had warned the families against the marriage of the minors. 

At the same wedding, the Dalit groom was thrashed by an 'upper caste' mob for riding a horse. The groom was allegedly thrashed because the tradition of riding horses to weddings is not prevalent in the Rajput community. After the incident, the locals protested and demanded action against the accused. Following this, the police made sure that the wedding was carried out under police protection.
