When Jaipur savoured different and delicious cuisine

As the saying goes, variety is the spice of life and at the Times Food & Nightlife Awards 2019 in Jaipur on Saturday evening, this was amply reflected as people got to taste a variety of cuisine and yummy delicacies. Celebrating everything, from traditional Jaipuri khana including daalbaati-churma to Goan fish curry, Malabari paranthas and stuffed dates, the evening brought together the best of the best in food.

The sprawling venue had stalls serving different types of food available in the city. The event saw many celebs and well-known personalities in attendance. Indian Paralympic javelin thrower, Rajasthan boy Devendra Jhajharia, was seen enjoying some delicious dishes. When we caught up with him, he said, “What’s better than enjoying a delicious meal in such a good company! This is the first time that I have attended an event which has brought such a huge variety of food from the best restaurants and food outlets of the city under one roof. Keeping a healthy diet in mind, I tried food items which have high nutritional value. Also, I tasted something unusual dishes for the first time, like adrak ka halwa.”

Sisters Saba and Somi Khan, Bigg Boss 12 contestants from Jaipur, were also at the event. Saba told us, “Before participating in the reality show, I used to work in the hospitality industry. I had a great time attending the event as I not only got a chance to felicitate the best in the food industry, but I also got to meet a few of my old colleagues. It turned out to be a reunion of sorts for me. Also, I loved the food.” Somi added, “This was an amazing event. Like Saba, I also come from the hospitality background and it was fun catching up with former colleagues. There were a few interesting dishes and I especially liked the adrak ka halwa.”
