Why Pailwaan is going to Chitradurga

To facilitate fans from all over the State, a location in the middle of the map was considered

The audio launch of Pailwaan, the big budget sports film by S Krishan, has been slated for July 27 in Chitradurga. Starting with the release of the theme song on Thursday in all the five languages the film is releasing in, the culmination will be the Kannada audio album launch in Chitradurga.

The trailer of the film in all the languages will be released subsequently.

As for the choice of Chitradurga for the event, Krishna said, “It is in the middle of Karnataka. Most film events happen in Bengaluru and is not accessible for most of the fans. Holding it somewhere in the middle of the State will help fans from all over to participate. Shooting of films is also moving indoors into studios. People hardly get to see film stars in person these days. As a child, it was a celebration to be able to go to such events. People will relish a night out with the stars. We had a public function for Hebbuli as well. When you play the songs among all those people, you will immediately know if it will work or not. The audio even will be a celebration with the people.”

Meanwhile Zee Studios has taken over the distribution of the Hindi version of the film Pehlwaan. “They will be releasing it across north India and also in Nepal and Bhutan. They have officially announced that it will be a minimum of 1,000 screens,” Krishna said. The original plan to release the film also in Bengali, Marathi, Bhojpuri and Punjabi has been dropped with the film being dubbed in Hindi.

The tentative release date of the film is now August 29. Krishna hopes to submit the film for CBFC certification in the first week of August. “The final layer of graphic work will not be completed by then, but we can submit the film for certification as there will be no green mat on the screen. This submission is required as we plan to release the film simultaneously overseas. In some of the overseas market, you need to get a certificate from the local authorities there,” Krishna said.

The film will release in multiple language versions in various overseas locations. “In the US, it will be in Kannada and Telugu. In the Gulf it will be Malayalam and Kannada. In South East Asia it will be Tamil and Kannada,” he said. Meanwhile the graphics rendering by Red Chillies is underway. The re-recording work has begun and the dubbing in various languages is nearing an end.
