Will deploy sadhus to stop illegal sand mining: Computer Baba

Bhopal: Computer Baba, a Self-proclaimed godman and chairman of the river trust for Narmada, Kshipra and Mandakini announced that he would deploy 2000 sadhus on the banks of rivers in Madhya Pradesh to keep a check on illegal mining.

“We will surprise the sand mafia. You will soon get information of sadhus taking on the people involved in illegal sand mining”, he said.



On a two-day visit to Budelkhand's Tikamgarh, Panna, and Chattarpur district, Baba visited the banks of Ken river to apprise himself of the illegal sand mining taking place along the water body. Holding meetings of officials and local MLAs, he also discussed a plantation campaign around the river.

Congress MLA from Chattarpur Alok Chaturvedi said, “ plantation of saplings around the river was discussed for the conservation of Ken river.”

Computer Baba also said, " I have 2000 sadhus with me. We will divide them in 4-5 teams and they will be posted at the locations where illegal mining is taking place in Madhya Pradesh."

He said that the sadhus would render bhajans and cook for themselves and check illegal sand mining.

When asked that the illegal sand mining activities have stepped up in the recent past, he said, “it spread like cancer around the rivers of MP, you will have to give us some time to check the menace. After our efforts, it has come down by about 10 % to 15% , while in the BJP rule, a 100 % illegal sand mining was taking place.”
