Will fulfil all promises made during Rohtak rally: Haryana CM

ROHTAK: Kicking off the election campaign from his home constituency Garhi-Sampla-Kiloi , Congress leader and former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said he would fulfil all the promises made during the August 18 rally at Rohtak if Congress came to power in the state.

Accompanied by his wife Asha Hooda and son and former MP Deepender, Hooda addressed supporters at his native village Sanghi.

“I am a man of my word and my10-year rule from 2005 to 2014 is a proof of that,” Hooda said.

Attacking the ruling BJP regime, Hooda said Haryana had been topping the charts in unemployment. He said as compared to other states, the rate of unemployment was much higher in Haryana. He said the BJP had made 154 promises before the 2014 assembly polls and had honoured not even a single one.

Striking emotional chord with people, he said his son Deepender would take care of the entire constituency in his absence.

“I have told Deepender to respect the elders and not to lose connect with his village roots. Our native village has always stood with us in good and bad times. I may travel across the state for campaigning and in my absence, Deepender will be among you,” he said.

On his debacle in the Lok Sabha elections from Rohtak, Deepender said he lost despite having secured nearly 48% votes in the polls. “Everyone knows how I lost the battle in the Lok Sabha polls. In a democratic setup, victory and defeat are part of one’s political career. I am sure people would teach the ruling BJP a lesson this time.”
