Will not contest 2019 elections: Kandhamal MP Pratyusha Rajeshwari Singh

Bhubaneswar: In a startling revelation, Kandhamal MP Pratyusha Rajeshwari Singh, who joined the BJP after quitting BJD, today stated that she will not contest the Odisha Elections 2019.

Participating in OTV’s Janamanch programme, Pratyusha said, “I joined BJP to serve people after being inspired by the leadership of PM Modi.

I never consider myself as a politician and had not joined BJP for ticket. I have made up my mind that I will not contest the polls this time,” said Pratyusha.

The Kandhamal MP further stated that despite working hard for BJD, she was neglected.

It is pertinent to mention here that Pratyusha Rajeshwari Singh had resigned from the primary membership of BJD on March 20 after being denied a party ticket.

“I had entered politics in a tragic situation as wanted to fulfil the dreams and promises made by late husband. I was confident to get a BJD ticket as all surveys and work done were in my favour. But unfortunately only 3 to 4 persons in BJD decided on ticket allotment. I got a call from somebody and asked me to meet VK Pandian regarding Rajya Sabha seat,” alleged Pratyusha.

Meanwhile, BJD leaders could not be contacted over Pratyusha’s allegations.

Earlier speculations were rife over Pratyusha’s candidature after she joined BJP today. Many believed that the saffron party would field her from Kandhamal. However, Pratyusha had categorically stated that she was keen to contest from Nayagarh.
