With 624 new cases, Gujarat tally crosses 31k
Active cases stand at less than 22% of the total; 6,158 samples tested on Sun, highest since June 3
Aday after reporting its highest ever single-day jump with 615 cases, Gujarat witnessed a fresh peak with 624 cases on Sunday, sending the tally to 31,397 so far. As many as 19 persons succumbed to the infection.
The death toll now stands at 1,809.
A total of 391 patients were discharged in the day, taking the number of the recovered cases to 22,808, it said. The number of active cases in the state now stands at 6,780, or 21.5% of the total reported cases till now. The condition of 19 patients is critical, as per the Health department.
As many as 6,158 samples were tested in 24 hours , which is highest since June 3 when 6,288 samples had been tested.
Apart from Ahmedabad (13), Surat has reported three fatalities while one death each was reported from Gandhinagar, Aravalli and Bharuch, it said.

With 211new cases, the count in Ahmedabad district has risen to 20,480 and the death toll to 1,423. Surat saw 182 new cases on Sunday, taking its cumulative tally to 4,424. Vadodara has reported 44 new cases. Among other districts in the state, 36 more cases were reported from Valsad while 11cases each were reported from Patan and Gandhinagar, as per the Health department.
Rajkot, Kutch, Surendranagar, Junagadh and Amreli districts each reported ten more cases while Mehsana and Bhavnagar have reported 8 cases each. Seven cases each were reported from Banaskantha and Bharuch and six from Kheda, it said.
13 cases in A’bad (Rural) Of the 211cases on Sunday, 198 were in city and 13 in rural areas. Dholka reported seven of the 13 cases, Viramgam two, and Sanand, Bavla, Dascroi and Dhandhuka one each

AMC on Sunday announced seven more micro-containment areas, all in the western part of the city. The list has Maruti Complex in Bodakdev and Gajaraj-2 Society in Chandlodia in the new west zone; Krupa flats in Vasna, Thakorvas and Dahyabhai ni Chali in Sabarmati, Karnavati Flat in Naranpura and Tejendranagar Society in Chandkheda In the west zone and Juno Rohitvas in Sarkhej in south-west zone.
