With Covid-19 cases increasing in Assam; State CM Sonowal asked the people not be worried

Guwahati: With COVID-19 positive cases increasing in Assam with the resumption of interstate movement, Assam Chief Minister Sonowal said asked the people not be worried about the increase in cases.

Assam has 199 positive cases. Sonowal today adhering to the social distancing norms, presented sanction orders for the construction of shelter cum community sheds of gaon panchayats at Ahatguri in Majuli district on Thursday.



Sonowal also said that though the positive cases of COVID 19 are increasing rapidly in the state, people should not be worried about that. He at the same time appealed to the people to follow the advisories given by the health department.

He also said that to reap the dividends of the Rs. 20 lakh crore financial package announced by the Centre, State government is drawing a roadmap to include all the sectors and people engaged in these sectors to get benefits from this stimulus package. He also informed that he had a detailed discussion with the bankers of the state and asked them to be prepared to get the benefits of this stimulus package.

Sonowal also visited the Regional Screening Centre being set up at Barsha Resort at Kakodonga in Jorhat district in the wake of novel coronavirus pandemic and took stock of arrangements made at the centre to screen inter-State passengers coming to the upper Assam districts from different parts of the country.

Sonowal said that in view of people in large numbers returning to the State following relaxation in lockdown norms, the State Government has set up five Regional Screening Centres for screening all returnees including the centre at Jorhat which covers Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Sivasagar, Majuli, Jorhat and Charaideo district.
