With No Pension, 65-YO Madurai Woman Has Been Living In Public Toilet For 19 Years
The heartbreaking story of a 65-year-old woman who has been living in a public toilet for the past 19 years has left everybody in tears. Karuppayi, has so far been living in a public toilet in Ramnad area of Madurai, Tamil Nadu.
Pictures of Karuppayi living in a toilet were posted by ANI and they soon went viral on social media.

The tweet has garnered, 1.8k likes and 709 retweets till now.
Apparently, the woman has been surviving and earning her livelihood by cleaning the toilets. She earns Rs 70 - Rs 80 per day by charging a meager amount from the public for using it. What is so devastating is that Karuppayoi stays in a small public toilet and doesn’t even have the basic necessities to survive.
While speaking to ANI about why she was forced to stay in a public toilet, she said, "I applied for senior citizen pension but didn't get it. I approached many officers in Collector's office but nothing materialised."

After her pictures went, people on Twitter requested the government to help her out. Some even praised her for earning for a living and keeping the toilets clean.
