Witness murder: Gangster Mohit Mental's aide arrested in Ambala

AMBALA: In connection with the killing of murder witness Puran Chand, the district police on Friday arrested Jagpal Singh 'Bindu' of Panchkula district's Kalka tehsil, an alleged accomplice of the main accused, Mohit Mental of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.


Puran of Mahuwa Kheri in Ambala district , prime witness in the Randhir Singh murder case of May 2018 registered at Naraingarh, was murdered at his village on July 2 this year when he was to record his statement against Mohit Mental in the court.

The crime was reported in the Naraingarh police jurisdiction. On Saturday, accused Bindu was presented before an Ambala court, which remanded him in four days of police custody at Naraingarh.

On October 23, another accused of Puran's murder, Shubham Prajapat of Mugalpura village in Hisar district was arrested in Khanna, Punjab, with arms and ammunition. He accepted the gang's involvement in the murders of Rajbir Singh 'Sonu Shah' in Chandigarh and Puran Chand at Mahuwa Kheri village in Ambala. On production warrant, he was taken to Chandigarh and Ambala, where he divulged the names of accomplices Pinky Gujjar and Bindu, which set off a manhunt for them in Kalka, Panchkula, and Pinjore .

On Friday, a tip-off that Bindu was in Panchkula triggered a raid on the town's Majri Chowk. He was earlier spotted in Pinjore and Kalka. Inspector Arvind Kumar, station house officer (SHO) of Naraingarh: "We will interrogate Bindu to know the whereabouts of Mohit Mental and Pinky Gujjar, wanteed in Puran Chand case."
