Woman, daughter killed in explosion in Munger

PATNA: A 21-year-old-woman and her two-month-old daughter were killed after a powerful explosion in their house near Bariyarpur bus stand in Munger district on Saturday.


Bariyarpur police station SHO Rajesh Kumar Ranjan said that the explosion took place at around 2am which killed the mother-daughter duo at the spot.



"The deceased woman was identified as Roma Devi. It was her father - Dashrath Sah’s - four-storey building in which she was living at present,” he said.

He said that a team of forensic experts from Bhagalpur and dog squad of Munger had reached the spot for investigation.

"After investigation, experts suspect that an explosive was planted in the house," he said.

The SHO said that the explosion rocked the entire locality. "It damaged ground the floor of Sah’s residence, his eatery shop outside the house and another adjacent residential building,” Ranjan said.

SHO said that spot of explosion is suspected to be a room on ground floor of the building in which Roma and her child were asleep.

He said Sah has submitted a written complaint against his son-in-law Amit Sah (25) for planting a bomb inside his residence to kill them.

SHO Ranjan said Amit and Roma had a love marriage in 2018 but currently they were having disputes.

“Amit lives just few paces away from Roma’s paternal residence. He, along with his elder brother Simple Sah has been detained by the police for questioning on the basis of written application submitted by slain woman’s father,” he said.

Ranjan said bodies were handed over to family members for cremation after post-mortem at district sadar hospital.

Munger sadar additional SP Harishankar Kumar , who also went to the spot for investigation, said that only after analysis of samples collected by forensic experts, it would become clear that what kind of explosive or chemical was used in the explosion.

"There was some dispute between the deceased woman and her husband and it appears to be the reason behind the entire incident,” he added.
