Woman dies due to heart attack after watching NRC news on TV




Controversy has arisen after the death of a woman on Tuesday amid political discussions about NRC in West Bengal.  A woman died after watching news related to NRC on TV in Asansol district of the state.  Family members allege that the woman had a heart attack after watching a news report related to NRC, following which she died.


 According to the family, Umarani Mukherjee, a resident of Asansol, lived in Bangladesh early in her life.  She currently resided in Asansol.  According to the family, recently Umarani was watching a news related to NRC on TV, during which he got a heart attack.  When the condition worsened, he was first rushed to the local health center and then shifted to Jamtara Hospital here.  The doctors declared the woman dead at Jamtara Hospital.

 Mukherjee did not have his Aadhaar card
 Umarani's nephew Subrata said that he is a tailor here and his aunt was terrified after seeing NRC news.  Subrata said that Umarani did not have an Aadhaar card and his birth date was not written on his voter ID card.  Due to this, he felt that after the NRC was implemented, he would have to leave the country and in this concern he got a heart attack.

 One person died in Assam
 Apart from Bengal, the case of death of a person in Assam has also been linked to NRC.  A person who was declared a foreign national in Assam two years ago died on 13 October.  The man, Dulal Paul, was earlier kept in a detention camp in Assam, where he was admitted to a hospital in Guwahati due to ill health.  He died during treatment here on 13 October.  However, officials of the Assam government have said that under which condition Dulal's death is being investigated.
