Woman hit by Dhoraji MLA's SUV dies in Rajkot

RAJKOT: A woman , who was hit by an SUV belonging to Dhoraji Congress MLA Lalit Vasoya in Porbandar on Sunday evening, died at a private hospital in Rajkot on Monday morning.

According to police, the deceased, identified as Disha Mehta (44), who served as a music teacher at Podar International School in Rajkot, had gone to Porbandar to visit her friend Nita Vasavada.

While Mehta and Vasavada were crossing the road near Porbandar Airport , Mehta got rammed by the SUV. She was first rushed to Porbandar Civil Hospital and from there was shifted to a private hospital in Rajkot where she died.

“During investigation, we found that the SUV belonged to MLA Vasoya. However, Vasoya claimed that he was not seated in the SUV and was in the other car, following behind the SUV. He said that he had come to Porbandar to participate in a television debate,” said an official from Udyognagar police station in Porbandar.
