Woman kills minor daughter in Karauli

Jaipur: A woman allegedly killed her 12-year-old daughter in Karauli district’s Machet village on Sunday. The mother attacked the victim with a spade (khurpi) while working in the mustard fields, police said. Following this the woman absconded but was arrested on Monday. The reason for murder is still unknown, police said .

The victim has been identified as Rachna Meena while the accused is 29-year-old Guddi Meena.

“The girl was working with her mother in the field when she was attacked several times on the head with the khurpi. The mother hid the body nearby and fled from the scene. When the duo did not reach home by evening, the family members came looking for them to the field and found the child’s body. We were informed and the doctors declared the child brought dead ,” said an official of the Sadar police station, Karauli.

The woman had three daughters and the victim was the oldest of them. Being a Sunday, the child had a holiday from school and had gone to work with her mother.

Police arrested the woman on Monday but have been unable to find the reason behind the brutal killing. “During questioning the woman confessed to the murder and hiding the body but as not revealed the reason till now. There is no evidence that she is mentally unstable and we are yet to ascertain as to why she killed her own daughter. Even the other family members have been unable to give any motive behind the murder. We are trying to find the murder weapon”, said an official.

A case of murder has been registered against the woman.
