World Trauma Day: Medicos take oath to prevent injuries
Madurai: Doctors under the Tamil Nadu Accident and Emergency Care Initiative (TAEI) institutions in Madurai observed the oath of trauma prevention and management on Thursday.
October 17 is observed as World Trauma Day to highlight the increasing number of injuries and deaths caused by accidents.
This year, through an official communication, TAEI government institutions were instructed to observe the oath of trauma prevention and management.
Deans of government medical college hospitals, hospital superintendents of district headquarters hospitals, chief medical officers of government taluk hospitals across the state including Madurai district took the oath to prevent and reduce injuries and deaths due to accidents.
The administered oath included a pledge to take necessary preventive measures to reduce injuries due to accidents and take the injured to the nearest government hospital.

A pledge was also taken to immediately call 108 emergency service and administer first aid to the injured until help arrives.
