Youth drinking on car bonnet booked, ASI suspended

YAMUNANAGAR: The police have registered a case against unidentified youths for creating ruckus and drinking in public. An ASI has also been suspended in relation to the case.


On Tuesday, videos of the suspects drinking liquor on the bonnet of a car parked in the middle of the road near a liquor vend in Yamunanagar also went viral.

In the clip, two cars — with promotional posters of BJP’s Jagadhri MLA Kanwar Pal Gujjar on the rear wind shields — are seen parked on the road in front of a liquor vend. The youths were sitting on the bonnet with an open bottle of liquor and glasses.

After receiving a complaint, police reached the spot and asked the youths to move and clear the passage. However, the miscreants started arguing with the ASI.

“ASI Rajinder has been suspended due to negligence in duty and a case against the unknown youths under relevant sections of the IPC has been registered at the Yamunanagar City police station,” DSP (headquarters) Subhash Chand said.

Yamunanagar SP Kuldeep Singh said, “I have instructed the DSP to look into the matter. Police patrolling will be intensified to prevent such incidents.”

BJP’s Yamunanagar unit chief Mahinder Khadri said, “A large number of people had obtain promotional items like flags, stickers and posters from the party office during the recent election campaign. We do not keep any record of such items. I have seen the video, but I am unaware of the identities of the youths.”
