Youth kills self, another body found hanging from tree

KOTA: A 35-year-old man from Baran city late on Saturday night died during the treatment in Kota after he attempted suicide by consuming a poisonous substance at his in-laws’ house on Haat Bazar Road under Bhimganjmandi police station of Kota city.

The man, identified as Dinesh Goutam, a resident of Baran city, succumbed to death during treatment late on Saturday night, said a sub inspector at Bhimganjmandi police station.

The youth, after reaching his in laws’ house on Saturday around 1pm, declared that he had consumed poison to end his life.

In his statement given to police on Saturday evening, admitted to have purchased poison from Kota market and to have consumed it but did not mention the reason behind it, the SI said. A case has been lodged under section 174 of CrPC, he said.

Similarly, the body of a 25-year-old youth, identified as Indulal Mehar, a resident of Guradia Issar village under Gangdhar police station of Jhalawar district, was on Sunday morning found hanging from a rope, to a branch of a tree near his home. Police have lodged a separate case under section 174 of CrPC and initiated investigation to ascertain the reason behind it.

The deceased youth worked as a daily-wage labourer and had left his home after meal on Saturday night to go to meet his wife at his in-laws’ home at a nearby village but passers by spotted his body hanging from a tree branch on Sunday morning near his home, said SHO at Gangdhar police station. The reason behind the death is yet to be ascertained, he added.
