11 villages of Veraval taluka to get regular water supply

RAJKOT: A total of 11 water scarcity-hit villages of Veraval taluka will be provided drinking water through 33 water tankers, said Gir-Somnath district collector Ajay Prakash on Saturday.


Addressing a meeting convened to deal with acute water crisis in the district, Prakash said, “In order to stop any irregularity or malpractice by the drivers of the tankers, GPS system will be installed at each tanker.”


In the meeting, S N Sahu, executive engineer of water supply, said the tankers would be dispatched to Bhetali, Khanderi, Pipalikadi/Kansara, Kadi, Oji, Paldi, Kodidra villages of Veraval taluka and Barula, Alidra, Tobra, Ankolvadi villages of Sutrapada taluka and Rayadi, Pikhor and Gundala villages of Sutrapada taluka from May 6.

A total of 3.3 lakh litre water would be provided to these villages. That apart, regular water supply would be provided to a total of 178 villages soon, informed the collector.
