115 new cases in Andhra Pradesh, recovery rate now 69 per cent

VISAKHAPATNAM: Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday recorded 115 new coronavirus cases, taking the state’s toll to 3,791. The cumulative positive cases of those who had entered AP from other states, rose to 479. There are currently 1,320 active cases in the state with 2,407 recoveries and 64 deaths. The number of cases among foreign returnees stood at 112.




While there has been a decrease in the state’s top Covid-19 hotspots such as Kurnool, Krishna and Guntur districts, East Godavari continued to witness a surge. As of Tuesday evening, Gollala Mamidada village in Pedapudi mandal alone had 117 confirmed cases, while the superspreader related cases moved above 150.

With the fresh discharges, the recovery rate in AP further improved to 69%. According to state officials, the recovery rate exceeded the global recovery rate of 45% by a huge margin. Kurnool, the first district in AP to cross the 700-mark, has seen the recovery of 610 patients so far.
