16 sub-stations commissioned in Tamil Nadu

CHENNAI: Quality of power in 15 districts of Tamil Nadu will improve following the commissioning of 16 sub-stations built at a total cost of Rs 235.20 crore.

Chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami commissioned the sub-stations through videoconferencing from the secretariat on Monday.

In many areas, new sub-stations with a higher capacity has been commissioned while in other areas, the existing sub-stations’ capacity has been increased.



The biggest sub-station to be commissioned on Monday is in Tirupur district. A sub-station with a capacity of 230/110kV was commissioned at a cost of Rs 75.54 crore.

Similarly, sub-stations have been commissioned at Emapalli in Namakkal district, Tirumalaisumudram in Thanjavur district and Sittampoondi and Denkanikottai in Krishnagiri district.

Three sub-stations have been commissioned on the Nokia campus at Sriperumbudur at a cost of Rs 7.46 crore. Sub-stations constructed in Salem, Tirunelveli, Nagapattinam, Chengalpet. Coimbatore have also been commissioned.
