18 districts of Punjab in grip of drug addiction

Chandigarh: BJP leaders held a press conference on Tuesday. Of the 272 districts in the country which have been caught by the Central Government, 18 of the districts which have been caught under the influence are from Punjab. Due to the fact that 18 out of the total 22 districts of the state are in the mire of drugs, the opposition has become a big issue.

On this, three prominent BJP leaders of Punjab, former Union Minister Vijay Sampla, former State Vice President Harjit Singh Grewal and former Secretary of State Vineet Joshi, while giving a statement on the matter said that Punjab is trapped in a swamp of drugs and Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh is busy opposing Priyanka Gandhi's eviction of the government bungalow. 

On this matter, the BJP leaders lashed out at the Captain and said that the Congress government, which came to power by promising to end the addiction in four weeks, has failed to end the drug even after three years. Vijay Sampla said that CM Captain Amarinder had clearly written on the number 19 page of his 2017-22 Election Manifesto, that his government will end the drug addiction in four weeks, but a quarter past three Years have passed but it is still spreading its roots in the state. But there is no change of any kind on this.

Vijay Sampla said that in 18 districts of Punjab affected by addiction, Faridkot, Jalandhar, Amritsar, Bathinda, Firozpur, Fazilka, Gurdaspur, Kapurthala, Ludhiana, Mansa, Moga, Pathankot, Sangrur, Patiala, Shri Muktsar Sahib, Nawanshahar, Tarn Taran and Hoshiarpur are included. On this, BJP leaders said that the Congress government is itself accepting the fact that the number of drug users in the state has increased. He said that according to the statistics of the health department of the state, 5,44,125 people have reached the de-addiction centres in the state during the last three years. About 23 percent of these cases have come up during the last three months.
