2 brothers killed in roof collapse in Yamunanagar

Yamunanagar: Two brothers Saurav (8) and Gaurav (10) died during heavy rainfall after the roof of their house collapsed at Saran village in the district during the late hours on Sunday.

According to information, five members of a family were sleeping in the two-room house when suddenly the roof of one of the rooms collapsed due to rain.

Both brothers got stuck under the debris and were rescued by the villagers and rushed to the MMU hospital, Mullana in Ambala district, where they were declared brought dead by doctors. Three members of the family, including the victims’ father Rajesh and mother Dimple and a younger brother Karan (3), who were sleeping in the adjacent room, escaped unhurt.

“The family is poor and only Dimple, who works as a labourer, is the earning member as her husband Rajesh had lost his eyesight due to diabetes some time ago. Saurav and Gaurav used to study in Classes II and IV, respectively, in the government school at the village. The naib tehsildar visited the village and assured the family that their case would be sent to the government for compensation,” Saran sarpanch Komal Rani said.

Chhappar SHO Lalit Kumar said, “The boys were rushed to the MMU hospital in Mullana, where the doctors declared them brought dead. We have conducted the proceedings under Section 174 (unnatural death) of the CrPC. ”
