2 thieves arrested from Peeru Banda

Ludhiana: The police arrested two thieves from Peeru Banda on Monday.

Two stolen cellphones and as many motorcycles were recovered from the possession of Preet, 21, and Rahul Sharma, 21, both residents of Salem Tabri .

Additional deputy commissioner of police (ADCP-1) Gurpreet Singh Sikand said, “On seeing a police party in Peeru Banda, two men on a bike tried to escape.

While they were being chased, their bike skidded and the two fell on road. They identified themselves as Preet and Rahul.”

During interrogation, the duo revealed that the bike they were riding was stolen. “They had lifted the motorcycle from outside a vegetable market in Daresi a few days ago. After their disclosure, another stolen motorcycle and two mobile phones were recovered,” the ADCP added.

Salem Tabri police station SHO inspector Vijay Kumar said, “After stealing vehicles, the two would ride the city roads, looking for their prey. The would usually execute snatchings at night. Rahul, an auto-rickshaw driver, is facing trials in snatching, theft and liquor smuggling cases. He came out of jail a few months ago. Preet, 21, works at a shop here.”
